Canvases
In addition to framing, we are also able to print your image onto canvas. Canvases offer an alternative way to display your image. Our canvases are bespoke and therefore can be personalised to your particular image. See below for the variations available.
The Process:
Our canvases are produced by hand. First, we print your image onto 350gsm matt polycotton archival canvas. This canvas has a tight weave which makes it ideal for printing a high level of detail whist still retaining the original qualities of canvas. Following this, we heat-seal the canvas image using a vacuum heat press. This applies a protective film overlay to the canvas which helps to preserve the image. Finally, the canvas is hand stretched over a finger jointed laminated pine frame. This frame provides additional strength and prevents the canvas from twisting.
Types of Canvases Available
Edge Finishes
There are multiple edgings available, each giving your canvas a different finish. You can have a white or coloured edge, or alternatively we can stretch the image in a mirrored or folded style. The mirrored option reflects the image over the edges where as the folded option continues and wraps the image around the canvas edge.
Depth
There are 3 canvas depths available (20mm, 30mm & 40mm), determining how far the canvas will sit from the wall when mounted.
Film Overlay
To protect the canvas, we apply a film overlay using a vacuum heat press. The film overlay bonds together the canvas and ink. This prevents cracking and protects the image from UV damage. There are various film overlay options available: matt, satin and gloss, each giving the canvas a different finish.
